The famous motto 'KNOW THYSELF' (Pausanias,
Description of Greece 10.24.1), was said to be inscribed on the
entry porch of the Temple of Apollo at Delphi.
As our other tour
Mount Olympus, abode of the Gods,
this tour is an attempt to reconnect with our distant Western Past in
Ancient Greece, and maybe... find ourselves, as Plato thought that an
'unquestioned' life was not worth living!
This seven days tour of ancient Attica, parts of
the Peloponnesus and Central Greece (Delphi), will cover cities, ancient
citadels, islands, capes and mountain sites. We will visit Athens’
ancient sacred landscape – from holy Eleusis to the Acropolis, from the
Keramikon to Plato’s academy, discovering or rediscovering many Athenian
museums, the island of Aegina, Epidauros, Corinth's citadel and the tour
will culminate with a 14 km walk from the Corycean Grotto to the village
of Delphi. Rather than arrive at the site of Delphi as ordinary
visitors, let’s arrive to the Greek Delphic “navel of the Earth” as
ancient travellers in search of answers from the Delphic Oracle |
