Ancient China: a cultural tour (10 days)
ITINERARY
Beijing - Arrival (-/-/D)
DAY 1 Meet your guide and transfer to your hotel after arriving in
Beijing. Time at leisure for the rest of day. Dinner at local
restaurant. Overnight at hotel.
Beijing (B/L/D)
DAY 2 Breakfast at hotel. Today visit the Forbidden City, the former
residence of the Ming and Qing emperors and walk along the Tiananmen
Square. After lunch visit the Temple of Heaven with its outstanding
round shape, covered by an exquisite triple roof of blue tiles. This is
where the Emperor used to go in the summer to pray for good harvests.
Later visit The Summer Palace and the covered gallery along the Kunming
Lake. In the evening, attend a Beijing Opera performance. Lunch and
dinner at local restaurants. Overnight at hotel.
Beijing (B/L/D)
DAY 3 Breakfast at hotel. One full day excursion to the Great Wall (Mutianyu
section), and visit the Ming Tombs. Walk along the Sacred Path leading
to the Necropolis. Lunch at local restaurant. Enjoy Beijing Roast Duck
dinner. Overnight at hotel.
Beijing - Xian (B/L/D)
DAY 4 Breakfast at hotel. Begin your Visit of the city with a rickshaw
ride in the old quarters at the heart of the “Hutong”, the little lanes
of old Beijing. Transfer to the airport for afternoon flight to Xian.
Meet your guide and Transfer to your hotel. Time at leisure for the rest
of day. Lunch and dinner at local restaurants. Overnight at hotel.
Xian (B/L/D)
DAY 5 Breakfast at hotel. Excursion to the First Emperor’s famous Terra
Cotta Army. On the way visit the Bell Tower, the emblem of Xian city and
the Wild Goose Pagoda, widely renowned Master Xuanzang stored his
classics brought from India. Enjoy the Tang Dynasty show in the evening.
Lunch and dinner at local restaurants. Overnight at hotel.
Xian - Dunhuang (B/L/D)
DAY 6 Breakfast at hotel. Today Visit the Provincial Museum, which holds
numerous unearthed cultural relics of China. The ancient City Wall, most
complete city wall survives through Chinese long history and the Hanyang
Tomb. Transfer to the airport for afternoon flight to Dunhuang. Meet
your guide and Transfer to your hotel. Lunch and dinner at local
restaurants. Time at leisure for the rest day. Overnight at hotel.
Dunhuang (B/L/D)
DAY 7 Breakfast at hotel. Full day visit the Yumen Guan Pass, ruined by
the shifting sands but still shows the ever splendor and once the west
gates out of the country of the Han Dynasty and the Yang Guan Pass. Walk
along The Great Wall of the Han Dynasty and visit the Hecang Fortress.
Lunch and dinner at local restaurants. Overnight at hotel.
Dunhuang (B/L/D)
DAY 8 Breakfast at hotel. Visit the Mogao Caves, which hold the world's
richest treasure house of Buddhist sutras, murals and sculptures. After
lunch visit the Folk-custom Museum and the Crescent Lake, which can make
sounds when the wind passes. Lunch and dinner at local restaurants.
Overnight at hotel.
Dunhuang - Beijing (B/L/D)
DAY 9 Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to the airport for flight to Beijing.
Meet your guide and Transfer to your hotel. Time at leisure. Lunch and
dinner at local restaurants. Overnight at hotel.
Beijing - Departure (B/-/-)
DAY 10 Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to the airport after breakfast for
